IT is like coming home for the new head of a primary school.

For David Silver, who this term took up the headship of the Holy Family RC Primary School in Maltings Lane, Witham, already has strong links with the establishment.

He taught at Holy Family from 1979-93 and all of his children have been through the school.

The 56-year-old father of four has been teaching in Essex since 1974.

He moved from Holy Family to be head teacher at St Joseph the Worker School in Hutton, in 1993, and then to New Hall Preparatory School, Chelmsford, in 1999.

Mr Silver said: "It's been a long-standing ambition to be head at Holy Family."

"My married and teaching life has been spent in Silver End, so it's my own parish school."

When asked for his plans for the school's future he said: "It's always been an excellent school so it's just a question of building on that."Last Updated on Fri 14 September 19101 at 15:0
