The playground at Bradfield Primary School has had a facelift to add an extra dimension to lunch breaks.
A colourful selection of paintings have been drawn onto the ground surface to provide pupils with a variety of games and puzzles.
Student councillors put their heads together at a meeting and decided they needed more playtime activities. So they sat down with staff and looked at the possibility of getting new markings to provide games for them to play during breaks.
Now mazes, dragons, alphabets, compasses and maps have transformed the playground into a creative and educational hotspot for the pupils.
Headteacher Debbie Griggs said: "It has been a completely student run thing, they've been the ones coming up with the ideas.
"All the children love the drawings and they are able to make their own games surrounding the pictures and use their imagination."
The paintings, made by Essex Ground Services, cost about £500 and were funded by the parent teacher association through events including the summer fete.
