A new medical centre for East Bergholt could mean the village getting its first pedestrian crossing.
A crossing or other road safety measures are among the conditions imposed by Babergh councillors before giving the go-ahead for the two-storey Heath Road centre.
The Constable Country Rural Medical Practice has 5,500 patients and wants to move its surgery to Heath Road.
Councillors at the development committee meeting yesterday (Wednesday) heard the parish council still did not want the centre built in Heath Road, the East Bergholt Society had also objected and there were 18 letters of objection from residents.
The new two-storey medical centre, expected to cost £650,000, would have five consulting rooms, a nursing suite and more nurse-related services.
