A new independent mediation service has been launched for the Chelmsford and Colchester area.

Essex Mediation has been established by an experienced team to offer an impartial environment for people who are divorcing or separating to negotiate issues such as arrangements involving children, finance and property.

The team used to work for a similar service which previously came under the umbrella of Relate. Now the service has been set up on an independent basis.

Anita Rendall, Essex Mediation practice manager said: "In the sad circumstances of divorce or separation, mediation is undoubtedly the best way to sort out the issues that need to be resolved.

"It is cheaper, quicker and reduces the chaos and conflict that can accompany divorce and separation and most importantly, addresses the needs and best interests of the children of the family."

Essex Mediation offers the first appointment free of charge and during the appointment clients are assessed for public funding.

For those eligible for such funding the whole process is free. If clients are not eligible they are asked to pay according to income.

Appointments can be made in either Chelmsford or Colchester by calling 01245 492200 or fax 01245 493071. Clients can be seen separately or as a couple for the first appointment.
