Halstead High Street was completely closed today (Monday) after the River Colne burst its banks.
Flood water up to 3ft deep shut off the High Street and the lower section of Market Hill, and has flooded many shops and businesses.
The River Colne burst its banks at about 3am.
Fire crews were at the scene but firemen say there is nowhere to pump the water.
