Runnymede Swimming Club continued their run of great results in league competitions by winning the first round of the new season's Essex League.

In a very close and highly charged contest against some strong rival clubs, Runnymede's swimmers collected a total score of 214 points, which included 11 first and 14 second positions.

Aaron Eveleigh and Lauren Hunt both scored maximum points in winning the under-13 boys and girls butterfly sprints.

Aaron also produced a commanding swim to win the freestyle sprint event.

Paul Eveleigh collected the evening's first win in the Open one-length butterfly.

Earlier in the competition, Gareth Henson produced one of his best swims this year to win a very close 100m breaststroke race, showing great determination and setting the tone for the evenings events.

Gareth later scored maximum points in the butterfly sprint event to round off his fine individual performances.

Sarah Jarrett cruised home in first place to take the under-13 backstroke sprint race.

Not to be outdone, brother Alan Jarrett took a great win in the under-15 100m freestyle.

In the boys under-11 1 length breaststroke race, Mitchell Richardson fought hard to produce a tremendous race and take first place.

There were also wins for Runnymede's relay teams in the boys under-13 4x1 length freestyle race, comprising of Harry Smith, Matt Scott, Aaron Eveleigh, John Guiton, and the Open 4x1 length Medley team of Alan Jarrett, Gareth Henson, Nick Ison and Paul Eveleigh.
