Three homes were damaged when an explosion shook a row of wooden terraced houses in Burnham.
The blast, possibly caused by a gas cylinder, was at a home in Granville Terrace at 5.45pm on Thursday.
The owner was left homeless and the force of the explosion damaged both neighbouring properties.
No-one was injured, but three fire appliances were called to the scene.
The explosion is thought to be related to a portable gas fire and gas cylinder. Transco was called out to ensure there was not a gas leak affecting the area but a spokeswoman said there had been no problems.
She said: "We were called out as a precaution, but the explosion was not as a result of the mains gas.
"We checked the gas services to all the surrounding properties and the main pipelines in the area, but it was all safe and sound and there were no traces of gas."
