A man suffered head wounds when his head was pushed through a window.
The incident happened in Colne Road, Clacton, at about 9pm last night (Thursday).
It followed reports of trouble breaking out along the sea front a few moments earlier.
Police said a 23-year-old man, from the Clacton area, had his head pushed through a flat window after two men were seen running along Colne Road being followed by a group of youths.
The group had been spotted a few moments before having a row near the Rocking Horse pub in Marine Parade.
The man with head wounds was taken by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital, where he was treated for cuts and was later released.
Six youths between 16 and 17, from the Clacton area, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and released on bail until November 23.
