A partnership between a club for disabled swimmers and a training company for sports therapists could help pave the way for the "champions of the future".

As part of the Colchester Phoenix Amateur Swimming Club's sports science project, swimmers will have the opportunity to benefit from sports therapy.

Phoenix, based at Colchester Leisure World, is a pan-disability swimming club, which offers and promotes swimming/water-based activities for people with disabilities - from learning to swim to coaching up to international level.

Premier Training and Development is supporting the squad swimmers by setting up sport clinics within the club structure to enhance swimmers' development and performance.

Under the supervision of a qualified sports therapist, Premier's students will also have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of treating and working alongside disabled sports people as part of their sports therapist qualification.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Premier students past and present will be present during the Phoenix 2001 Anniversary Open Swimming Gala.
