A motorist was taken to hospital with an injured arm after his car left the road and hit a tree.
The accident happened at 9.10pm on Friday night close to the point where the A12 bridge crosses Henry Dixon Road, Rivenhall.
The car left Henry Dixon Road, hit a tree and landed on its side.
An Essex fire spokeswoman said crews were called to the scene after initial reports said a the man was trapped in his car.
Crews from Colchester and Braintree rushed to the scene but the driver was found to be out of the car when they arrived. He was taken to Colchester General Hospital.
