At Forrester Park Golf Club it was a busy day for the handicap secretary after the men's monthly stableford as the scores were high in spite of the early mist which reduced visibility to about 100 metres until the sun broke through.

The gold division was won by Ian Fletcher with 42 points, beating Martin Gunfield by a single point.

Ray Quy scored 41 points in the silver division with John Luxford in second place on 39 points.

The bronze players found scoring a bit more difficult with Dave Ratchford taking the honours with 37 points from Dick Jowers on 36 points.

The ladies played their Daily Mail Foursomes qualifier under difficult conditions and the club will be represented by Jean Perrott and Angela Roast who won with a nett 79, beating Maggie Lintner and Maggie Laws by one shot.

The stableford for ladies not competing in the foursomes was won by Jean Drew, who beat Jean Frost on countback, both with 33 points.

The veterans played their October medal and struggled in the windy conditions.

Terry Pryor with a nett 72 beat Peter Cartwright and Ron Ketley in the gold division and Derek Hollows beat Stan Staines and Derek Wallis in the silver division with a similar score.
