A Jimmy Chatters hat-trick wasn't enough for an on-form Wivenhoe side to defeat the Met Police on their own beat going down 4-3 in Ryman League Division Two.
The Dragons were leading 2-0, but the Police pulled one back just before half-time. The home side then scored a quick equaliser after the break and went on to take a two-goal lead.
Chatters then reduced the arrears to complete his hat-trick and set up an exciting finish.
The Dragons surged forward hitting the post and bar but couldn't find the all-important equaliser.
Dragons manager Frank Thompson said: "If you go away from home and score three goals then you expect to come away with at least a point."
