Matt Holland is confident Ipswich Town can perform more away-day heroics in the UEFA Cup.

The Blues had to settle for a disappointing 0-0 draw at Portman Road against Helsingborgs last night (Thursday) and are now relying on scoring in Sweden in two weeks' time.

But skipper Holland believes they can get a result in the second leg after they pulled off a superb 2-1 win at Torpedo Moscow in the first round.

He said: "They'll be disappointed because they had several great chances to score but the important thing was that we didn't concede a goal.

"Our keeper Matteo Sereni was excellent but he's been superb for us since he joined. He's a big character in the dressing room and great fun to have around.

"We'll go through if it's 1-1 or a 2-2 so we still have every chance. We were in a worse position in the first round after allowing Torpedo to score an away goal.

"But we managed to score twice in Moscow - which is a difficult place to go - and we think we can do the same in Sweden."

But the Republic of Ireland midfielder is aware there is plenty of room for improvement.

He added: "It wasn't the worst performance in the world. They made things very difficult for us by crowding the midfield and disrupting our rhythm.

"But we didn't defend that well and gave away too many chances. We need to close down players much more and not give them as much time on the ball."

Town return to Premiership action on Sunday when they visit Fulham (kick-off 1pm).

Defender Mark Venus said: "It's going to be a very difficult game. They've spent a lot of money and are a newly-promoted side with a point to prove.

"They'll be looking at how we did in our first season and must be taking heart from that."
