Fruit and vegetables were on the menu for a weekend of fun.

In Maldon, apples were given out on Saturday to celebrate the second National Apple Day.

Tony White dressed up as a jester, encouraging shoppers in the High Street to sample an English apple or two.

And at Dorewoods Hall, Bocking, on Saturday, youngsters designed some spooky pumpkins for Hallowe'en while raising funds for needy children in Eastern Europe.

It raised funds for the charity British Aid for Deprived Children.

Children in spooky Hallowe'en costumes were shown how to carve a pumpkin by artist Debbie Hart, and the day also saw the cutting of a huge apple pie baked by pupils at Braintree College.
