Tendring councillors are to go public again.

Two meetings of the new cabinet set-up have been held behind closed doors, but following a campaign spearheaded by the Evening Gazette and its sister papers, the meetings are now to be open to the public.

Neal Harrington, editor of the Clacton, Frinton and Walton Gazette, said he was pleased cabinet meetings were now in public.

He said: "Naturally we were very concerned as the first two cabinet meetings were held in private, but I'm delighted that democracy is now being seen to be done. I sincerely hope this openness continues."

The next meeting is due to be held on Wednesday in the Connaught Room at the Town Hall, Clacton, starting at 11am.
