Basildon and East Thurrock MP Angela Smith is asking her constituents what changes they would make to running the country if they were Prime Minister for the day.

Mrs Smith poses the question in her fourth annual report newsletter, being delivered to homes in her constituency.

Mrs Smith said: "My report asks people what one thing they would do to improve public services if they were Prime Minister for the day."

Mrs Smith said some responses so far had focused on wider government issues, while others were more applicable at a local level.

She said: "There are serious issues there about the need for people to deal with complaints quickly and properly, and I can look into that."

Wider issues raised by constituents include health and transport.

"There were a lot of issues raised about c2c, and people are right to complain and I will be using that in my talks with them."

If anyone does not receive a copy of the report - her constituency includes Stanford-le-Hope, Corringham, Fobbing, Horndon-on-the-Hill, Orsett and Bulphan - they can write to Angela Smith at 1a, Southend Road, Stanford-le-Hope, SS17 0PQ.
