A husband who killed his wife in a frenzied knife attack has been found hanged in his prison cell, it has been revealed.
Derek Ive, jailed for life last November for murdering wealthy Westcliff woman Jean Parry, was discovered by warders at Chelmsford Prison.
A Prison Service spokesman today (Tuesday) confirmed an internal inquiry into Ive's death was under way.
Jean, who ran Chalkwell Lodge nursing home in Westcliff, was stabbed three times in the chest and suffered more than 20 other injuries in November, 1999.
She had gone with Ive, 54, to Wallasea Island, near Rochford, in his silver Mercedes where there was a desperate struggle in a layby in which Jean suffered horrific injuries from which she later died.
Ive, formerly of Old Southend Road, Southend, had become increasingly jealous after Jean started divorce proceedings and began dating new lover Stephen Helland.
