If you ask managers what they want from a cup draw the usual reply is to be at home.

So they'll be no complaints from Tony Cross and Steve Mosely that Tilbury and Aveley respectively will find themselves on familiar territory for the second round of the FA Carlsberg Vase next month.

And they'll also be no need to puzzle over their opponents because both are from their own division and in Millers' case opposition that is very familiar.

For a third time already this term they'll take on Kingsbury. So far it's advantage to Aveley having won in north London by 3-0 and then, rather surprisingly, sharing eight goals in the return a few weeks' later.

But you'd expect no slips at Mill Field this time against opposition that is struggling just a few points off the foot of Division Three. (In the first round Kingsbury won at another Ryman Three side, Leighton.)

Tilbury take on fellow mid-table Ryman Two outfit Barton, who won at Somersett Ambury (Spartan League) last Saturday.

"I wouldn't have minded a team from outside but only for a bit of change, " said manager Tony Cross.

"It's a home draw and that's all you can ask for and no disrespect to Barton but we have avoided some teams you wouldn't want to play until the later rounds."

Dockers may be inconsistent in the league but are doing considerably better than this time last year when languishing in the bottom three

The fact Cross has been unable to field the same side in consecutive games because of an injury list that never shortens is the reason he feels for this erratic form.

And there doesn't seem any likelihood of things improving on the availability front before the next round of the Vase.

That is due to be played on November 10, but because this clashed with England's friendly with Sweden, clubs will be allowed to kick-off earlier or later on the Saturday or switch the games to the Friday or Sunday
