Cans of lager were taken from a store in Hamstel Road, Southend, by a teenager.
The boy, described as white, aged 14 or 15 and around 5ft tall with short blond hair, took 12 cans of Stella Artois from the Drinks Cabin shop.
He was wearing a white baseball cap, a dark top and light trousers
