The Essex Police helicopter and police dogs were called in to search for a youth who absconded from an ambulance.
The ambulance had been called to an address in Black Notley on Wednesday to take the unnamed 17-year-old, who had taken a quantity of tablets, to hospital for tests.
But he fled as the ambulance arrived at the address about 9pm.
A police spokesman said: "The police helicopter was in the area and helped search teams on the ground look for him."
But the youth turned up back at home of his own accord about four hours later.
The man was taken to hospital for tests and later released.
