Grays could be welcoming a very special spectator to Saturday's FA Cup game against Margate.
Andy Douglas, their popular striker who almost died in a knife attack less than a month ago, hopes to be fit enough to make the journey from his parents' Cheshunt home where he is recuperating.
The 21-year-old suffered extensive internal injuries after he and a friend, Paolo Vernazza, disturbed an intruder at the Watford player's home in Islington.
Douglas' recovery at Homerton Hospital amazed doctors and led to Grays nicknaming him the "Bionic Man".
The former youth player at both Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday, is not expected to play again until next season.
