Pitsea's Wayne Chambers enjoyed a hectic evening session at his local Northlands Park Lake landing nine big bream and a number of smaller fish.

Wayne fished from the middle spit, casting into the road lake.

Within minutes of starting his waggler tactics and sweetcorn bait had tempted his first bream, which was followed by a procession of others to a best of 4lb.

The father and son duo of Jim and Simon Montgomery also found the fish obliging at Northlands Park, landing numerous big bream, a cracking perch and a net full of smaller fish between them.

Father Jim fished to the right of the Christmas tree in the cafe lake to take the biggest haul.

Using a quivertip and swim feeder he took fish steadily on his red maggot baits. At the end of the day he had taken eight big bream, plus numerous smaller fish for a 40lb plus haul.

Jim's son Simon took numerous skimmers and some superb bream, but even these were overshadowed by the big perch which added variety to his haul.

Simon fished to the left of the Christmas tree using similar tactics and bait to his father.

Pike angler Sid Warren took a personal best 18lb 6oz fish from the Northlands Park road lake.

He tempted the big pike with a lamprey section after spotting it moving in the margins. He also took smaller fish of 5lb 8oz and 10lb 12oz.

Gloucester Park regular Tony Ridley hit the jackpot with an estimated 200lb haul from the venue's cockle bank.

He fished a quivertip and method feeder using a selection of maggot, sweetcorn and chum mixer baits. His catch included 42 carp with individual specimens in double figures, a chub, a crucian and a tench.

By the end of the day he had so many fish in his keepnets that he had to empty many of them out before he could lift the remainder of his catch from the water!

Chris Bury and Graham Lee had a bonanza session at the Gloucester Park cockle bank landing 21 carp between them.

Amazingly for October they took four of their carp off the to using chum mixers. The rest of their big haul fell to a wide variety of baits ledgered against the island.

Richard Dinmore targeted the big carp in the Gloucester Park little bay after losing two big fish from the same swim in his previous session.

This time he was more successful landing a superb 15lb 8oz common carp on his waggler tackle and luncheon meat baits.

Tony Goodman fished the point at Lake Meadows to take three big carp in a four-hour session. His first fish, a mirror of 16lb 12oz, came just five minutes after his first cast out!

It was followed by further mirrors of 15lb 8oz and 21lb 4oz, all tempted by home-made Mainline mix boilies.
