A driver was left badly shaken after a brick was thrown from a bridge on to her car windscreen.

The woman had been travelling along the A120 Braintree bypass in the direction of Chelmsford at about 11.10am yesterday.

Her car had just passed under the Millennium Way bridge, near Galley's Corner, when a brick was dropped on to the car's windscreen.

The screen was broken in the incident, but did not shatter, and the woman managed to pull the car over. She was not injured, but was left shaken.

Police have no description of the person who dropped the brick, but are appealing for information.

This is the secnd incident of vandals throwing bricks at cars in one week. On Monday night a brick was thrown through the window of an Austin Metro which was parked in Hay Lane, Braintree.
