Martijn Reuser is ready to forge his way back into Ipswich Town's first-team after making a dramatic return to action for the reserves.

The Dutchman was on target with a 30-yard thunder-bolt as the Blues second string beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Portman Road last night.

And Reuser, sidelined for the past fortnight with back and hip problems, told the Gazette: "It was great to play so well and score a magnificent goal.

"I came off about 20 minutes from time but that was only precautionary. I was feeling a bit of pain and didn't want to overdo it."

Ipswich's next Premiership date is with Aston Villa on Monday and Reuser added: "I don't know whether I'll be recalled but it would certainly be great to be involved.

"All our games are so important at the moment but the next two, against Villa and Spurs, are vital.

"We don't want to go into the New Year stranded at the bottom of the table and those games will decide that."
