An artist and a model from the Royal Academy of Arts in London, have visited a school to hold a special workshop.

Artist Charlotte Steele arrived at Colbayns High School in Pathfields Road, Clacton, to turn the art room into an interactive life drawing workshop.

The life model also helped with the workshop getting students to respond and taking them through exercises.

As many as 40 pupils, from year ten upwards, taking GCSE, Alevel and GNVQ in art, took part in the event.

Philip Langshaw, head of creative and media arts faculty at the school, said: "The day has been absolutely superb. We have got more students than we thought, which shows pupils' involvement and commitment to it all.

"I have been very impressed with the students' work and the quality that is coming out from them. We are proud of them the way they have been responding."

He said an exhibition of the work done during the workshop would be on display at an exhibition at the school soon.
