A 71-year-old woman who died in a head-on collision in Chelmsford town centre has been named by police.
Veronica Moore, of Stammers Lane, Southminster, died in Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, following the crash in Rainsford Road at 4.20pm on Saturday.
She was sitting next to her one-year-old grandson in the back-seat of a red Rover 214 being driven by her 37-year-old daughter from Mayland.
The family had been on a shopping trip and were heading away from the town centre when they were involved in a collision with a grey Ford Orion travelling into Chelmsford. The elderly woman's daughter was taken to hospital along with her baby son and 21-year-old daughter who was sitting in the front passenger seat.
The 54-year-old Orion driver and his 54-year-old wife, both from Chelmsford, were taken to hospital with facial cuts and bruises.
