Great Wakering Rovers will take over the leadership of the Ryman League Second Division tonight if they can overcome lowly Hemel Hempstead away from home.

Rovers currently trail top dogs East Thurrock by three points from level games, but the Rookery Hill outfit are not in midweek League action and Wakering have a vastly superior goal difference.

Alan Hull's village side are in a rich vein of form at present and have won their last four matches by scoring an aggregate of eight goals without conceding any -- confirming their reputation as having the best defensive record in the whole of the Ryman competition.

Tonight they have skipper Danny Scopes ready to return after missing a total of five games in all through suspension, while Paul Flack may be fit for a first team League comeback after having a reserve run-out at the weekend. He's been out injured since September.
