Wickford youngster Liam Roper-Browning has won this year's Design a Christmas Card competition run by the town's Lions Club.

The year seven pupil's success means it is the sixth time his school, Beauchamps High, has one the title in as many years.

A spokesman for the school said: "All of Liam's form group are very proud of him and obviously the school is very pleased to see the artistic talent of one of our students recognised once again.

Wild card: Liam is pictured checking out his cards with Lions president Bill Potts.

"All the cards have Liam's name, age and school on the back and it is wonderful to think these will be sent all around the world."

As part of the prize Liam received a framed copy of his design and a framed card made from that design. He also received a £25 voucher and 250 cards to send to friends and sell at the school's Christmas Bazaar.

The school recieved £50 from the Lions club.

A top young artist from Wickford CE Infant School picked up the primary school prize. Seven-year-old Harry Skinner won the award for his picture of Santa coming down a chimney.
