Both Great Wakering Rovers and Billericay Town saw their hopes of soccer success fogged off last night.

Rovers had hoped to take over at the top of the Ryman League Second Division from East Thurrock United with victory at third-from-bottom Hemel Hempstead.

But after a goalless First-half in which Rovers had generally dominated proceedings, the referee called a halt due to poor visibility.

The foggy weather prevented a start at New Lodge in the Essex Senior Cup fourth round tie between Ryman Premier Billericay and Ryman Third Witham.

They were playing for the right to host either holders Dagenham and Redbridge or Ford United in round five. Wakering and Billericay now have a break before their next action on Boxing Day. Daggers take on Exeter at Victoria Road at 7.45pm tonight in their FA Cup second round replay.

Grays Athletic are through to the third round of the Isthmian League Cup. The Premier Division side beat First Division Staines 2-0 last night.

Rocks had a 2-1 success over Concord Rangers in the Eastern Floodlight Competition.

Ryman Division Two Tilbury triumphed 5-4 on penalties over Foresters Essex Senior League Ilford at St Chad's in the second round of the Essex Thames-side Trophy.
