Injury-plagued Colchester United favourite Ross Johnson is set to return to action for the reserves at Bournemouth this afternoon.
The former Brighton defender, who has been hit by a string of injuries during the past two seasons, could be back after missing Saturday's Division Two home win over Peterborough on Saturday because of back spasms.
U's boss Steve Whitton said yesterday: "If Ross is fit he and goalkeeper Simon Brown will be the only senior players in the team tomorrow.
"And the match will give the younger players another chance to show me what they are made of."
Ross Johnson is the latest of a long line of injuries which have hit Whitton's plans, including long term victims Joe Dunne, David Gregory, Chris Keeble and Gavin Johnson.
