Parentline Plus, the national charity, has launched its Christmas Survival Campaign to help parents and carers who find the festive season a real struggle.
The campaign is in response to the number of families who contact the charity each year seeking help and support over the festive season.
Parentline Plus runs a confidential helpline and is expecting a rise in calls from parents and carers, particularly from separated parents and stepfamilies who are trying to find their way through a minefield of conflicting demands.
Rosemary Spillman, co-ordinator of the charity's call centre in Essex said, "Sometimes the pressures of the holiday season can be a real struggle for many parents and tensions can run high.
"Many parents who contact us just want to find a way of enjoying time with the family, which is why we have launched the Christmas Survival Guide. The helpline, which runs over the Christmas period, is a lifeline for many who find the festive season intensifies their family problems."
The free helpline can be contacted on 0808 800 2222.
The charity, which is always in need of volunteers, also has a website on www.parentlineplus.org.uk
