Clacton bowed out of the Essex Senior Cup following strikes either side of half-time, the second an unfortunate own goal.
And boss Mick Potter described his side's performance as the worst since he took over as Seasiders manager.
He fumed: "Leyton deserved to win because they were the better team on the night.
"Too many of my players were off form and not there to help the younger lads.
"Had it been the Jewson League Cup I would have been suicidal.
"I was still very disappointed, though, because I wanted a run in this cup. It would have been a nice money-spinner for the club."
