Patients in Colchester and Tendring are being urged to continue the responsible attitude they showed last winter when it comes to visiting doctors.
Colchester and Tendring Primary Care Trusts and Essex Rivers Healthcare NHS Trust say the only way the local Health service was able to operate so effectively last winter was because of the responsible way it was used by the public.
Research has shown the Get the Right Treatment campaign, which will be repeated this winter, had got the message across that they should not bother their doctor with minor complaints which could be dealt with by calling NHS Direct, consulting walk-in centre or pharmacists.
Dr Jonathan Geldard, chairman of the executive committee of Tendring Primary Care Trust, said GPs appreciated the responsible way people used the NHS last winter.
