Little Joseph Zammit, of the Willows, Benfleet, is only eight but the skilled musician wanted to do something for his nan who has been in Southend Hospital since June.
Jan Golding, 69, was diagnosed with a tumour on her spine in the summer which paralysed her from the neck down.
The feisty grandmother always sang in choirs during the Christmas period to raise funds for Little Haven Children's Hospice and when she finally admitted she could not participate her young grandson stepped in.
Joseph's mother Suzanne said: "Joseph said he would like to do something for her. We organised a special concert at home and Joseph played the piano. It was a really lovely event and about 25 people, including school friends from Jotman's Hall School, turned up.
"I am very proud of him. The whole concert was a lovely idea and we managed to raise £100 for Little Haven, which was fantastic."
