A Stanford-le-Hope teacher will be sharing her technology skills with colleagues across Essex after securing Government recognition.
Rowena Rees - head of technology at Hassenbrook School in Hassenbrook Road - has been appointed an advanced skills teacher after successfully completing a Department of Education and Skills assessment.
When the new term starts she will be spending one day a week working with technology teachers in other schools to help raise standards in this area of the curriculum.
Although she will remain a teacher at the school - which she joined in 1997 - four days a week, the school has appointed Clive Bevis as the new head of the department.
"We are delighted that Rowena has gained this new appointment which demonstrates the high calibre of teaching staff attracted to Hassenbrook," said school headteacher Dr Geoffrey Casey.
