Too much fat poured down the drain from Christmas dinners may have been the reason for an emergency sewage pipe operation in Canvey.
Anglian Water had to call in emergency crews to work in Canvey High Street yesterday when solidified fat blocked the sewers.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said: "The blockage has been cleared so things are returning to normal quite quickly but we will be returning to carry out further work.
"We had to get in a high-pressure jetter to remove fat."
