Mature employees at Essex small businesses are being offered the chance to strike a blow for grey power through a new training project backed by the European Social Fund.
The Mature People into IT scheme is designed to increase the opportunities open to older people.
It allows workers aged over 40 who work for companies employing less than 250 people or who are self- employed to access subsidised training in a wide range of information technology and management skills.
The scheme, backed by Seevic College in Thundersley, South East Essex College in Southend and Thurrock and Basildon College, builds on the success of last year's eastern region project. That provided IT training for more than 500 construction and engineering professionals.
Courses available under the MaP>IT scheme will range from basic understanding through to qualifications in the latest technologies.
