Crowds flocked to Southend Pier over the Christmas period to walk off their turkey and cakes.
Pier managers found people queuing outside when they opened up on Boxing Day morning.
There was such a huge demand throughout the day that the pier and museum will now be opened on New Year's Day.
Marie Dowie, manager of the pier museum, said: "It went really, really well on Boxing Day and it was packed all day long.
"I guess people wanted to walk off their Christmas dinners but we expect it will be popular again on New Year's Day so we are going to open then as well."
After a brisk walk down the pier, visitors can visit the exhibitions in the pier museum or try their luck on the penny machines.
On Tuesday, January 1, the museum will be open from 11am to 4pm with admission just 50p. Under 12s go free if accompanied by an adult.
