The headteacher of a south Essex school is calling it a day after nearly 22 years in the hot seat.

Chris Richardson, headteacher of Furtherwick Park School, Canvey, has already written to parents informing them of his decision.
He said: "I shall be retiring from the school at the end of April after just short of 22 years at the school. In that time the school, and education in general, has seen tremendous changes and I guess that will be no different in the future.
"I feel that I have given a great deal to the school over the last 22 years but it is now time for new ideas to come into the school."
