Tributes have been pouring in for a traffic policeman who died after suffering head injuries when he was in collision with a car on the A12 Colchester northern bypass.

Father-of-two PC Gary Veal who was based at Stanway traffic policing unit died yesterday afternoon at Colchester General Hospital.
He had suffered serious head and internal injuries in the accident on Saturday evening. He lived in Colchester with his wife Tina and their two daughters aged seven and two.
PC Veal was on foot on the A12 Colchester northern bypass close to the A133 Spring Lane exit to the town centre, and had been putting out cones and portable lights near a broken down car about 6.20pm on Saturday when the accident happened.
Road conditions at the time were damp and misty, said a police spokesman.
Paying tribute to PC Veal, John Broughton, the Assistant Chief Constable of Essex Police, said: "Our thoughts are with PC Veal's family at this sad time.
"Essex Police has lost a dedicated officer who gave his life helping others."
