Chaos erupted on Saturday afternoon after an American pick-up truck crashed into the central barrier on the A130.
Firefighters from Hadleigh, Rayleigh and a rescue tender from Leigh all attended the scene after the crash which occurred at 1pm.
Four engines were dispatched as it was originally feared the driver was trapped inside the vehicle.
