Garons Tennis Academy launched the new year withits first in-house mixed tournament.
The event, sponsored by Ballbreakers, was open to all the players aged eight to 16 years in the GTA squads and teams who play in many of the local leagues.
The semi-finals produced some very good tennis with Matthew Pearce losing to Jamie Waterhouse. Jamie's opponent in the final was Joe Levey and in a very close match Jamie came through 7-6 6-4 to win a £50 prize.
With no entry fee and everyone guaranteed at least one match, the turn out was very good for a period that tends to be quiet for junior tennis.
All the players received a goodie bag and free refreshments during the four-day event.
The event was well supported by the players and parents who also got the opportunity to test their power in the fastest serve competition.
The academy's coaches also thank all the players and their parents for their support during 2001.
