Basildon's Alan Busby was the clear winner at the latest of Mick Toomer's Ridley Angling Products sponsored Gloucester Park Opens.

Fishing from the cockle bank Alan weighed in 8lb 0oz 8dr of roach to win the £100 first prize by a comfortable margin.

Alan took his fish using a pole with worm and caster baits.

He included roach to over half a pound in his haul on a day when fish proved hard to tempt.

Alan's win proved to be part of a successful double act with his father Terry.

Whilst Alan was winning the Gloucester Park Open Terry was winning a Vange and Pitsea AC club match at Slough House!

Second place at Gloucester Park went to County Groundbaits proprietor Terry Lock who weighed in 5lb 6oz 8dr to collect £55.

Terry also fished the cockle bank where he took a chub and a bream on the quivertip, topping up with some pole caught roach.

Carl Tuffin took the £38 third prize with 5lb 1oz. He also fished the cockle bank where pole tactics produced his net of roach.

With the Ridley Rollover not claimed a further £50 has been added to the pot resulting in a rollover jackpot of £400 going forward to the next match. This will take place this Sunday, (January 20).

Meet at the western end of the lake from 7am for a 7.30am walk off. Fishing time will be 8.30am till 2.30pm.

Barbel, zander and pike may not be weighed in, and bloodworm is barred. Match entry fee will cost £11, (100 per cent payout), with the usual day ticket payable on the bank, (£15 all in).
