A headteacher acclaimed for boosting standards at a Westcliff secondary school is to retire at the end of the summer term.
Retiring - inspirational Prittlewell School headteacher Margaret Barr. 5480C
However, Prittlewell School's Margaret Barr, known for her tough procedures, is promising no let up until the final minute of the school year.
Staff and pupils at the school will be kept on their toes as their "inspirational leader" plays out the last few months of a successful career.
A successor is still to be found for the demanding position at the 960-pupil school in Prittlewell Chase.
Ms Barr said: "I have enjoyed my time at Prittlewell and will miss the interactiveness with both staff and pupils.
"But I am still here for a few more months so there will be no slacking on my part or the rest of the school. I have lots to do and many things to sort out."
During Ms Barr's 11 years at Prittlewell it has moved from being a school with very low levels of achievement and falling roll to a one attaining far better standards.
