Rochford District Council's planning committee has called for special powers to combat the rising problem of unauthorised caravan sites in the area.
At present over 20 cases are under investigation by the council enforcement team.
The council feels a faster reaction procedure is needed.
As a result, the committee agreed that the council should be authorised to take all necessary action in courts to stop any breaches of planning laws.
