A tile worker is recovering in hospital after crashing his white pick-up truck through a brick wall into a garden in Laindon.

Justin Parks, 31, was taken to Basildon Hospital after the accident in Dunton Road, Laindon.

He was kept in overnight pending more tests today after suffering a broken leg and an injured wrist.

Fire crews spent half-an-hour cutting him out of the wreckage - it is thought he was driving to a job for the Tilbury Tile Centre.

Peter White, the owner of the tile centre in Civic Square, Tilbury, said: "He phoned us when it happened while he was out delivering.

"I went to the hospital with him and will be there again today. We do not know much about the accident but he was very lucky and the truck is in a right state."
