An ambitious Basildon-based freight forwarding company has tied up a multi-million deal to buy up its warehouse facilities.

Alpi UK, an Italian owned warehouse and distribution firm which moves cargo overland around the world, has completed the purchase of 13,210 sq m of warehouse space at Miles Gray Road from owner GE Capital for around £4.4m.

The company has been a tenant in the facility for around five years, but has bought the building as part of its ambitious plans for the future.

Managing director Martin Reeves said: "This is part of our expansion plans. We have increased our staff numbers over the years but our premises have not kept up. This will help put that right."
