SEEVIC College's under-19 netball team are in the middle of what could be a great season.

They have won the Southern England Eastern Region League where they were undefeated. Now they are trying for a cup double after the current half-term.

Earlier in the season they won the East Essex Schools netball tournament and, in doing so, earned the right to represent East Essex at the Eastern Region tournament.

In a very tight final, SEEVIC girls were victorious 11-10 against Hainault. Now they will be competing in the National Schools' final in Manchester on March 16.

This will be at the same venue as the Commonwealth Games netball this summer.

It should also be noted that the SEEVIC team has won through to the quarter-finals of the British Colleges Cup, the "jewel in the crown" for sports students.

In a tightly fought last round, SEEVIC defeated their great foes Palmers College, Grays, 51-49 and, in doing so, have a home tie against the North of England representatives.

The netball coach Mike Clayton would very much like to hear from anyone interested in sponsoring the netball team. Ring him on 01268 756111.
