Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani has vowed to do all he can to to help World Trade Centre widow Deena Gilbey threatened by deportation from the US.

He asked the Echo to tell him her story and insisted: "I will try to help her. If you give me the information I will see what I can do."
His comments came on the day he met pupils from Westcliff High School for Boys who had travelled to London to present him with a donation for the victims of September 11.
Even though he is no longer Mayor of New York, having completed his elected term at the end of December, he still offered to look into the plight of the former Hockley resident.
