Pupils spent a whole night at their primary school as part of a reading project.
Youngsters at the Warren Primary School in Gilbert Road were invited to bring in sleeping bags and toothbrushes and settle down to night of sponsored reading.
Half the school was sectioned off into dormitories and the other classrooms were used as reading rooms where staff and parent volunteers spent the night reading to the children.
A school spokesman said: "Most of the children took up the strange offer of staying the night in the school with their teachers and the last child went to bed at about 2am.
"Breakfast was served at 6.30am and the children returned home at 7am after an exciting night."
